What Parents, Teachers and Librarians are Saying About Book Club for Kids

Sept 2, 2016 This is a long overdue thank you for a podcast that you did with my daughter Leah many months ago on the Great Wall of Lucy Wu. If you recall, Leah was part of the podcast recorded at Hooray for Books in Old Town, and it was a phenomenal experience for her.  Additionally, since listening to her show, The Book Club for Kids has become one of my favorite podcasts and I have listened to all of the back episodes trying to identify good books for my kids (and for my friends kids).  It's such a smart idea to have kids describe their reading experiences and to capture their Book Club discussions. Bravo! Also --- I wanted to pass on that my daughters specific book club discussion transitioned into a larger discussion on bullying and elementary schools.   Since there were a couple of kids from her class involved in the podcast, I forwarded your link to her teacher and principal.  This gave them a interesting perspective on what bullying is like in the elementary schools from a child's perspective. You are doing really great work and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn more about kids and children's literature through your efforts. Diane Devendorf OldTown Mom of Teens

"Those kids inspired other students to want to start mini-book clubs. They would check out books with multiple copies last year and sit and read side by side during independent reading."
